About the Role

We are recruiting for a Senior Manager, Social Responsibility to join our Corporate Affairs and Social Responsibility team. The Senior Manager, Social Responsibility is responsible for managing the implementation of the OCS Social Responsibility strategy, aligned with the organization’s overall Corporate Strategy. This includes championing a socially responsible industry by establishing a foundation for sustainability; promoting a diverse and inclusive industry; advancing cannabis knowledge and promoting responsible consumption.

As a Senior Manager, Social Responsibility you will use your strong interpersonal, collaborative and relationship building skills to effectively collaborate with internal stakeholders across the OCS, work with key external vendors, and build strong partnerships outside the organization with public health groups, academics, and community organizations. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your 5+ years of experience in social responsibility, public health and/or sustainability to help grow OCS’s Social Responsibility program while educating the public on responsible consumption of recreational cannabis.

About Your Day

  • Establish the OCS’s Social Responsibility activities within OCS and outside of the organization aligned with the Social Responsibility and Corporate Strategies
  • Liaise and manage relationships with internal business partners to generate buy-in for the Social Responsibility strategy
  • Execute and manage procurements and contracts with external vendors to deliver on key activities and initiatives
  • Establish, lead, and leverage partnership opportunities with external organizations, academics, and researchers to advance the OCS mandate of promoting responsible consumption and ensuring all Ontarians are educated on the benefits of legal cannabis
  • In partnership with Senior Leadership, develop annual Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to track and monitor progress on delivery of the social responsibility strategy to ensure the achievement of results
  • Work with key departments to embed KPIs into annual departmental goal setting to support buy-in and delivery of the social responsibility strategy across the organization
  • Track and monitor spending of the social responsibility budget to ensure that funds are spent in accordance with OCS policies, procedures and are aligned with the Social Responsibility strategy
  • Develop the OCS’s first Social Impact Report and update it on an annualized basis in collaboration with key internal and/or external business partners
  • Administer the OCS’s Sponsorship Policy, in partnership with key departments, by ensuring Social Responsibility funds support social impact partnerships, and key social responsibility activities in the broader cannabis industry
  • Support other departments in fulfilling data and/or product requests by researchers, as aligned with the Social Responsibility strategy and the mandate of the OCS
  • Develop and document policies and procedures as needed to ensure consistent and compliant internal processes and program strategies that support the overall social responsibility strategy
  • Provide regular updates on the Social Responsibility strategy to the Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Social Responsibility, the CEO, and the Board of Directors on the delivery of the Social Responsibility overall strategy
  • Provide leadership, coaching and mentorship to a small team of professionals

About You

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Communications, Public Administration, Policy and/or related fields; OR a combination of education and experience
  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Communications, Public Administration, Policy and/or related fields is an asset
  • 5+ years experience in social responsibility, public health and/or sustainability with 2+ years of experience leading a team
  • Experience in building and leading social responsibility programs
  • Experience managing relationships with external vendors, consultants and/or service providers to deliver against the Social Responsibility strategy
  • Experience with building/managing content on a website is an asset
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, including having the ability to manage multiple tasks, and changing priorities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build strong relationships internally and externally
  • Excellent presentation skills including experience briefing Senior Leadership, and the Boards of Directors
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite- including Excel, Power-Point, Share-Point, Teams and One-Drive)

Remote Work

  • This position offers a Hybrid work schedule. You will be required to be in the office a minimum of 1 day each week, with the ability to work from home for the remaining workdays (subject to specific business needs requiring office attendance).
  • When working from home, a reliable internet connection is required. Remote work is supported with cloud-based applications and collaboration tools (i.e., MS Teams)
