Job summary

We’re building a Government Relations team that reflects the diversity of the global community in which we operate and thrive in, and we want to include you!

We’re looking for a dynamic professional to join our team as a Senior Manager, Government Relations (International). In this role, you will be responsible for supporting Aurora’s global relationships with government and senior public policy decision makers in international markets where we are growing and expanding.

As the Senior Manager, Government Relations you will…

  • Act as a liaison between the Regulatory Affairs, International Business Development and other teams in Canada, European Union, United Kingdom and South America on matters related to government policies and decision-making
  • Support the Regulatory Affairs Team in the review of products while focusing on expedited government decision making and assist the
    Senior Vice President, Global Government Relations with membership on various committees of the United States Cannabis Council (USCC)
  • Monitor and report to Aurora’s senior leadership about any global legislative, regulatory, or government decisions at the multilateral, federal and regional (i.e. EU) levels that may impact the cannabis industry or our business
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with stakeholders about the development of legislation, regulations, and government approaches
  • Identify, analyze, and track legislation and regulations throughout the international markets
  • Support the development and implementation of lobbying strategies, including the drafting of letters, submissions, and presentations, liaising with legislators and regulators and directing elected officials and civil servants on a variety of industry-related issues (i.e. taxation, exports etc.)
  • Assist in the development of government relations content for publications, campaigns, and agendas, and support Aurora’s participation in business groups, meetings, and conference calls

It would be great if you have…

  • An undergraduate degree in Business, Political Science, Communications, or related discipline (these credentials appear to match the candidate profile we are looking for but we’re ready to be convinced otherwise)
  • Four years of experience in a related government relations role (we would also welcome an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience)
  • Deep understanding of government processes and factors that influence decision-making and experience in lobbying government or government relations
  • Knowledge or prior work experience in the cannabis industry (an asset but not required)
