Job Title: Retail Lead

Reports to: Retail Manager

Hours: Full-Time

Location: Easthampton

Position Summary

The Retail Lead performs the same customer service duties as a Retail Associate, but also provides support to management, including assigning daily division of duties and resolving issues. Retail Leads must possess leadership skills and expertise with regard to Insa policies, procedures, and cannabis regulations.

Responsibilities & Duties

Provides friendly, knowledgeable, and compassionate customer service to customers and advises them on their unique needs and preferences

Performs transactions using computerized point of sale system and ensures accurate cash handling

Performs order fulfillment and restocking as needed

Uses expertise to educate customers on the brand, product options, and regulatory compliance

Organizes daily division of duties for Associates to ensure floor is stocked and prepared for sale and that storefront is clean and organized to maintain brand standards

Performs daily setup closing procedures including assignment of radios, creating daily schedule, stocking and closing registers, and allocating labor during high-volume periods; provides coverage to Associates during meal breaks

Maintains a calm demeanor during high-volume times to ensure customer satisfaction

Assists Retail Associates with resolving customer concerns and/or complaints using prescribed procedures, including de-escalation techniques when necessary

Maintains open communication with Inventory Specialists to understand availability of products

Maintains compliance with Company SOPs and CCC regulations, including sales limits and proper checking of ID specifications

Willing and able to accommodate a flexible schedule, including evening, weekend, and holiday work

Qualifications & Skills

Must be at least 21 years of age

High school diploma or GED required

Previous retail, hospitality, and/or customer service experience required

1 – 3 years of leadership experience preferred

Basic computer skills required; POS software and cash management experience preferred

Basic math skills including adding and subtraction required

Outgoing, friendly, and enthusiastic attitude required

Must have a reliable personal vehicle


Attention to Detail – Ability to perform accurate transactions and maintain compliance with complex regulations

Confidentiality – Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information

Customer Relations – Ability to provide professional customer service and positively represent the Insa brand

Leadership – Ability to lead others in achieving duties and assignments. Ability to set a positive example of Company core values for others

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for an 8+ hour shift

Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs occasionally

Ability to stoop, kneel, and bend at the waist

Visual acuity needed for viewing computer screens and fine print

Manual dexterity needed for performing transactions

Workplace Environment

Busy retail environment with moderate noise level

Indoor/outdoor environment with exposure to seasonal temperature changes

High volume work during peak hours, events and holidays
