Payroll Manager

The Role

LeafLink is looking for a Payroll Manager to build out a new & top-notch payroll function for our fast growing organization. This person will own the payroll process from start to finish and be expected to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization. Payroll is highly sensitive and we need someone who is trustworthy, dependable, and a skilled communicator to expertly manage this critical process.


  • Support the transition from a PEO-model to in-house payroll processing
  • Own the set-up and timely processing of semi-monthly payroll for 300+ full-time employees
  • Work closely with the People Ops team to capture employee changes such as new hires, terminations, compensation adjustments, etc. and ensure payroll is accurate
  • Primary contact for all tax related matters and registration in new tax jurisdiction
  • Communicate, monitor, and ensure compliance to applicable federal and state laws
  • Assist with Payroll G/L account reconciliations at year end
  • Ensure deductions are recorded correctly for 401k, medical plans,
  • Partner with HRIS to prepare year-end tax statements for employees
  • Manage employee questions and resolve issues quickly and efficiently


  • 5+ years of experience managing payroll at a fast-paced company
  • Working knowledge and experience with multi-state payroll and payroll tax rules and regulations in the US (federal, state, local)
  • International (Canada) payroll experience is a plus
  • Experience with UKG is a plus
  • Strong communication skills and proven success working cross-functionally
  • High level of integrity with an emphasis on tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality
  • Outstanding attention to detail and focus on accuracy
