Position Summary: The Operations Manager oversees the operations for the facility, including analyzing and improving process and workflows, supporting employee development, enforcing policies and procedures, executing strategic initiatives to fulfill company objectives, and maintaining a safe and compliant workplace environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversees the operations of the facility, including enforcing policies and procedures; setting and communicating facility standards, expectations, and goals; and holding staff accountable for meeting these goals
  • Oversees recruitment, selection, and training; holds management team accountable for maintaining adequate and efficient staffing levels and adhering to established budgets
  • Provides coaching and counseling opportunities to direct reports; gives feedback on performance, including providing annual performance reviews and applying corrective action as needed
  • Coordinates with Human Resources to continuously evaluate and improve employment policies and procedures to increase morale and retention
  • Prepares an annual budget, schedules expenditures, analyze variances, and initiates corrective actions in coordination with finance department
  • Develops operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements; develops, implements, enforces, and evaluates policies and procedures; coordinates with purchasing department to develop processes for receiving product, equipment utilization, inventory management, and shipping
  • Analyzes process workflows, employee and space requirements, and equipment layout; implements changes
  • Maintain safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following and enforcing standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations; committed to running an injury-free workplace
  • Seeks out educational opportunities and is committed to continuous improvement by reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and gaining industry credentials
  • Serves as the primary point of contact when there are customer issues related to product quality; takes appropriate remedial action; coordinates with management team to continuously improve processes
  • Produces various reports for senior leadership including inventory, production, payroll, and compliance-related auditing
  • Coordinates with compliance team to maintain adherence to state regulations


  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Administration or Supply Chain Management, required; MBA preferred
  • 8 - 10 years of operations management experience required
  • 8 – 10 years of leadership experience required
  • Lean/Six Sigma certification preferred
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have a reliable personal vehicle
  • Must be able to pass a background check in accordance with state regulations

  • Expertise in Excel required

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite

  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills

Demonstrated skill in generating alternative solutions to problems.

Management Effectiveness - The overall ability to supervise and direct people and/or resources to meet department goals. The level at which one is able to motivate people, plan and prioritize unit operations, respond to changing conditions, and manage costs effectively.

Employee Development - The degree to which the supervisor encourages employee education, development, and improvement. The level of assistance provided in planning and meeting career goals. An awareness of organizational needs related to employee development.

Decision Making/Judgement - The ability to make prudent decisions that are timely, well researched, and reflect awareness of impact.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for at least 8 hours
  • Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, crouch in order to access equipment
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs
  • Visual acuity needed for viewing screens and fine print
  • Manual dexterity needed for data entry

Working Environment

  • Consistent moderate background noise level due to HVAC and machinery
  • Exposure to bright light where eye protection is required
  • Exposure to organic nutrients and cleaning chemicals that require use of gloves
  • Exposure to cannabis odor
  • Exposure to skin contact with plants, to which some individuals may be allergic
  • Exposure to moderate heat and humidity in bloom rooms
