The Opportunity

Build awareness and demand for Canopy Growth brands globally through highly creative, innovative communication strategies. Oversee the development, deployment and execution of the Global Communications strategy in all markets, ensuring its integration cross-functionally across the organization. Continually build brand equity and support new product launches through strategic global brand communication strategies that significantly increases brand awareness and drives purchase intent.


  • Lead the development of strategic plans, cohesive narratives, story ideas, collateral and initiatives across the Martha Stewart CBD portfolio, SurityPro and BioSteel brands to build consumer awareness and drive purchase intent
  • Ensure consistent and effective brand messaging to media, and ultimately, the consumer
  • Responsible for the development and execution of brand plans, programs, and go-to- market activities to achieve Canopy Growth’s short- and long-term business objectives across brand portfolios
  • Work with and influence internal business colleagues and stakeholders at all levels of the company – including product/brand teams, MarComm, retail, trade, and other relevant partners - to build strategic integrated campaigns that deliver upon business objectives that drive consumer awareness and brand loyalty
  • In charge of day-to-day management of earned media plans, including strategic planning, execution, optimization and budget management
  • Act as day-to-day contact for communication activities for Martha Stewart CBD, SurityPro and BioSteel
  • Communicate plans and successes to relevant stakeholders across product organization, including executive and retail teams
  • Oversee execution of initiatives; prioritize and manage projects to timelines, budget, and resources
  • Manage external agency partners
  • Oversee annual budget planning process
  • Monitor, analyze and report market trends and competitive activity
  • Set KPI’s to track campaign results
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or related field required
  • 7-10 years communications experience
  • Experience developing communication strategy and narratives
  • Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills
  • Demonstrated experience and genuine enthusiasm for collaborating and innovating with peers
  • Proven ability to think creatively and drive execution across multiple channels and audiences
  • Ability to regularly pivot from creative big-idea generation to nitty-gritty details
  • Excellent judgement and a keen sense of what is timely and culturally relevant
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a desire to build and nurture relationships to identify the best stories to tell
  • Ability to work well with people at all levels of an organization, including senior leaders; and work cross-functionally across multiple teams and geographies
  • Ability to meet deadlines and balance multiple priorities
  • Experience and enjoyment of fast-moving and agile environments where flexibility is key
  • Outstanding time management and project management skills
  • Demonstrated proactive commitment in evolving communications based on metrics, research and feedback
  • High energy, outgoing, teammate with a “can do” personality. Ability to thrive in a changing environment.
