DEFOLIATION TEAM MEMBER

The Defoliation Team Member will be responsible for frequent and repeated pruning and hand trimming of cannabis plants throughout the plant growth cycle.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • De-leaf and trim cannabis plant leaves and stems by hands or scissors throughout the plant growth cycle.

  • Visually inspect plants for any concerning features such as discoloration or disease and report any findings to Shift Lead or Supervisor immediately.

  • Remove plant waste from area and dispose of plant waste bags into Destruction bins.

  • Sufficiently clean and sterilize workstations, equipment and work areas post-trimming

  • Understand and follow all related SOPs and procedures to GMP standards

  • Always read and follow all health and safety regulations and operate in a safe manner.

  • Assist in other areas of operations as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of a high school education or equivalent.

  • Minimum one (1) year experience in labour setting with preference given to those with experience in greenhouse, arbor, landscaping or nursery settings.

  • Minimum one (1) year experience in a manufacturing or production environment in a position involving repeated hand-work and fine attention to detail.

  • Prior experience with teams

  • Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time.

  • Must be able to work in a variety of temperature conditions, including in a greenhouse environment.

  • This position involves significant exposure to cannabis/plant materials, and it is therefore not likely suitable for an employee that may suffer from allergies to cannabis/plant pollen material, or experience other medical issues, such as asthma and hay fever, as a result of cannabis/plant material exposure.

  • Must be able to use simple and basic hand tools for long periods of time.

  • Ability to work on a conveyor line that requires good hand-eye coordination and accuracy.

  • Excellent communications and ability to work in a team environment

  • Ability to multi-task and utilize time management skills

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs

  • Comfortable working with chemical products (required to wear a respiratory mask for protection)

  • Comfortable working in noisy conditions (required to wear appropriately rated hearing protection devices, as provided).

  • Comfortable in stepping over obstacles and greenhouse infrastructure safely.

  • Comfortable following all safety protocols and procedures, including wearing a respiratory mask, hearing protection and safety eye coverings.
