Compensation Manager

Leafly is looking for an experienced Compensation Manager who will manage core compensation and shape our Total Rewards program. As a key member of the HR team, you will report to the Head of Human Resources and work closely with Senior Leadership to shape the Total Rewards philosophy for a high-growth company. This role will be responsible for the day-to-day activities in supporting our global employee compensation program including compensation analyses, market benchmarking, budgeting and financial reporting. The Compensation Manager needs to ensure the accuracy and integrity of all compensation and market data in the information systems and be able to work closely with HR colleagues and other functional groups.

- Enable Leafly to attract and retain talent by refining/articulating our compensation philosophy, and guiding job architecture, salary structure, processes & guidelines for the evolving global business
- Provide strategic direction in the development of competitive base and variable pay structures; job classification methodology, merit and incentive programs (both short and long-term) and equity plans
- Annually review & refine Leafly’s variable comp and commission plans to ensure they are effective, market competitive and drive results
- Provide regular reporting and analysis on benchmark for salaries, variable pay and other rewards. Conduct internal analysis as needed
- Review proposed salary adjustments & promotions to ensure compliance with guidelines and best practices and consult with leadership on recommended actions to resolve all rewards-related issues
- Provide comprehensive support and counsel to managers and HR Business Partners on compensation related activities such as strategic new hire offers, promotions, international transfers, budget allocation and top talent retention
- Proactively research and analyze data (market, turnover, offer acceptance rates, etc.) to determine the competitive position of client groups. Present findings and recommendations to senior business and HR leaders to ensure both internal equity and external competitiveness are maintained as appropriate
- Consult with the business on incentive plan design, governance, communications and implementation. Conduct assessment of incentive plan effectiveness and provide recommendations on plan changes
- Ensure compliance with applicable employment-related federal and state statutory requirements regarding employee pay. Stays up-to-date on current compensation-related legislation and trends
- Participate in the development and maintenance of compensation programs, systems and tools. Support compensation planning processes and continuously prepare managers to make sound compensation decisions
- Lead, participate and contribute to the Annual Compensation Planning Process through our Performance Management Process. Develop and provide training materials for managers and employees
- Partner with Talent Acquisition Team, HR Business Partners, and management in evaluating jobs and benchmarking new hires and ongoing compensation positions
- Maintain current working knowledge of federal / state legislation that impacts compensation and benefits policies
- Work closely with HRIS Analyst to ensure proper build-out of the Compensation Module within the Dayforce (leveling, salary grades, etc…)
- Work closely with HRBP’s and HRIS Analyst to fully build out a Competency-based approach for the Performance Module within Dayforce
- Ability to make business recommendations based on Root Cause Analysis
- Anticipates future business changes and challenges and proactively develops and implements new or revised compensation plans

- A BA/BS degree (or equivalent) in Human Resources, Finance, Accounting or General Business
- 5+ years of compensation management, covering both U.S. and Canadian markets and hi-tech job profiles
- Expert in compensation and benefits best practices, market trends, and laws
- Experience building compensation programs and structures from the ground up
- Experience working in a sales environment with a wide variety of compensation structures
- Experience with excel; advanced capability
- Strong analytical experience with keen attention to details required
- Strong functional knowledge of Human Resources business processes (compensation, benefits, payroll benefits, and supporting operations)
- Up to date on all Federal, State, and Local employment laws and remain up to date on laws
- Strong analytical experience with keen attention to detail
- Investigative skills / ability to analyze data
- Experience with HCM life cycle support and relational database experience
- Must have strong experience utilizing the Google Platform (Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Sheets etc…)
- Must have strong experience with MS Excel, data analysis & reporting experience
- Data collection, data entry, retrieval, analytics, and reporting based upon HR needs
- Ability to communicate and interact with people from multiple HR backgrounds

- Experience with Radford and Culpepper strongly preferred
- Ability to understand, interpret, and communicate Ceridian Dayforce requirements
- SHRM-CP or SHRM SCP certification or HRCI Certifications
