Broken Coast is growing, and we’re looking to add a dynamic, energetic person to our Finance team!

JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the controller, the Accountant will contribute to the overall efficient operations of the finance department by coordinating the month and year end closing, overseeing and analyzing cost expenditures and purchases within the organization, budgeting, forecasting and preparation of periodic reports. The successful candidate will work remotely, being based in the Pacific Standard Time zone in Canada.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform technical accounting tasks including the preparation of JE’s, account reconciliations, periodic closing, monthly accruals and intercompany balance reconciliation
  • Prepare and file all federal and provincial related required reports
  • Prepare monthly accounting reports for submission to management
  • Perform month-end close and all related month-end reports in budgeted time
  • Review and analyze costs for all business activity such as inventory, labour and material purchases
  • Prepare cost estimates and budgets for new purchases
  • Assist in budget preparation and regular maintenance of the budget
  • Assist in responding to audit inquiries
  • Develop and maintain all internal controls to comply with SOX and monitor and ensure adherence to all controls
  • Assist in quarterly and annual external and internal financial and SOX audits
  • Document policies and procedures

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2+ years as an Accountant or related position
  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, or a related field preferred
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or in the final stages of the program is an asset
  • Experience with Quickbooks accounting software
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Strong analytical skills; sound understanding of accounting principals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Accurate and precise attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time efficiently
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to accurately prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports
  • Ability to collaborate with multi-departments

Pay: From $65,000.00 per year
